We design machines, mechanisms and assemblies the way they will be built. Every part is sized by calculation and every tolerance is chosen for the process that will make it. Work is done in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks and handed over as native files plus neutral formats.
Typical clients are OEMs, machine builders and manufacturers that need design capacity for a project, a peak load, or a machine they have never designed before.
What We Do
3D CAD modeling and assemblies
Parametric models with clean structure so your team can edit them later.
Engineering calculations
Shafts, bearings, bolts, ballscrews, motors, beams and more, documented step by step.
Design optimization
Weight, cost and stiffness balanced against what the machine really needs.
Design validation
Tolerance stack-up, interference checks and FEA support where it adds value.
GD&T
Drawings dimensioned to ASME Y14.5 with functional datums.
Design for manufacture
Parts drawn for the processes and shops that will make them.
Typical Deliverables
- 3D models and assemblies (native and STEP)
- Engineering calculation report
- 2D drawings with GD&T
- Bill of materials
- Design review notes
- Revision-controlled release package
Mechanical design outsourcing that your shop floor can build from
Most machine builders do not need more CAD hours. They need designs that are right the first time: parts that fit, drives that are sized with margin, frames that do not flex and drawings a vendor can quote without phoning back. LTM Engineering Solutions provides mechanical design engineering services for OEMs, machine builders and manufacturers who want that level of certainty without adding permanent headcount.
Every design is backed by calculations. Motors, gearboxes, ball screws, linear guides, bearings, shafts and structural members are sized from the actual load case and duty cycle, then documented in a calculation report you can review, keep and reuse. You see why each component was chosen, not only what was chosen.
Design checks included as standard
- Drive and motion sizing: torque, speed, inertia ratio and RMS duty for servo and induction drives, with gearbox and belt selection.
- Machine elements: shaft fatigue by the DE-Goodman method, bearing life to ISO 281, bolted joint preload to VDI 2230, key and spline checks.
- Linear motion: ball screw critical speed, buckling and life, linear guide block loads and ISO 14728 life.
- Structure: deflection and stress of frames and brackets, with FEA where geometry is complex and hand calculation as the cross-check.
- Manufacturability: standard stock sizes, achievable tolerances, weld access, assembly sequence and maintenance access.
- Risk: DFMEA on new mechanisms so failure modes are designed out before metal is cut.
Common design problems we are asked to fix
Many mechanical design projects arrive after something has gone wrong. A drive trips on overload at start-up because acceleration torque was never calculated. A shaft breaks at a keyway after a few months because fatigue was checked against static yield. A linear axis loses accuracy because the guide blocks are too close together for the overhung load. A welded frame twists after machining because no stress relief or machining datum was specified.
Each of these has a clear engineering cause and a documented fix. We trace the failure back to the load case, recalculate the component, propose the smallest change that restores margin and update the model and drawings so the problem does not return on the next build.
Typical projects
Mechanical design work at LTM ranges from a single mechanism to a complete machine. Past designs include a two-spindle gun drilling machine for medical shafts up to 500 mm long, an internal pipe welding machine for 12 to 14 inch pipeline joints, a valve loading and inspection cell, coil taping machines and a knuckle boom crane. Smaller engagements are just as common: redesigning a failing mechanism, adding an axis to an existing machine, or turning a prototype into a production-ready design.
Software, standards and file formats
Design is done in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks to suit your library, with AutoCAD for 2D, ANSYS for FEA, Mathcad and Excel for calculations and Autodesk Vault for revision control. Drawings follow ISO and ASME Y14.5 GD&T practice. You receive native CAD files, STEP models, PDF and DWG drawings, a bill of materials and the calculation report.
Pricing and turnaround
Work is quoted at a fixed price after a short brief. Small fixed packages start from ₹8,000 for a shaft and bearing verification and ₹12,000 for a motion sizing report. Most concept-to-drawing projects take two to four weeks. Clients in Europe and the US are supported remotely, with an NDA signed before drawings are shared.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you work in our CAD system and templates?
Yes. Design is done in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks using your title blocks, layer standards and part numbering, and files are delivered in native format with STEP copies.
Do you provide calculations with the design?
Yes. Every project includes a calculation report covering drives, machine elements and structure, with every formula and substituted value shown so your engineers can check it.
How do you protect our designs and data?
An NDA is signed before you share any drawings, files are kept under revision control, and strict data-handling practices protect your intellectual property.
Can you support projects outside India?
Yes. Most work is delivered remotely to clients in India, Europe and the US, with reviews at agreed checkpoints and drawings to ISO or ASME practice.
What happens after the design is delivered?
Native files and PDFs are handed over, and support continues during fabrication and assembly, including vendor queries and commissioning questions.
How an Engagement Works
Brief
You share the function, loads, space, cycle time and any drawings you already have.
Concept
We propose a concept with a layout sketch and the key calculations, so you can approve direction early.
Detail design
3D model, calculations, GD&T drawings and BOM, reviewed with you at agreed checkpoints.
Release and support
Native files and PDFs handed over, with support during fabrication and assembly.
Have a project in mind?
Send a short brief with sketches or specifications. You get a clear scope and a fixed quote, usually within one business day.
